Life seems a bit "topsy turvy" right now, filled with uncertainty, yet we are not alone. As Catholics, we can take comfort in knowingJesus isn't far from us which is illistrated in today's Gospel (John 7:10). Jesus wants to be with his disciples and sneeks around to prevent capture. Jesus still desires to be with us because he loves us. He does walk with us in hard times even thought we may not recognize him. One of the ways we can recognize Jesus in our midst is by being a people of prayer. It helps open our minds and hearts to receiving God's divine grace, making us more prone to seeing HIm in our everyday life. St. Paul encourages us in Colossians 4:2 , "to Continue to be steadfast in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving." As the world slows down a bit and practices social distancing, let us take this as an opportunity to deepen our friendship with Christ. A great place to start is with the daily readings which can be found on the left of this page. Also to the right are some great clips to help us begin the process. It is also important to remember that prayer doesn't have to be complicated, prayer can be a simple conversation with Jesus.
Now that we can't attend public Mass what do we do? For many of us keeping the Lords Day and following the 3rd Commandmant meant going to Sunday Mass, which we are normally morally obligated to do. Because of COVID-19 the Bishop has dispensed us from attending Mass; however, that doesn't mean we still should not honor Keeping the Lords Day, which is a day of worship and a day of rest. In others words, it is a day to spend time with God and enjoy being with family and friends. Here are a few suggestions:
